This past week I helped the family do some moving of my grandfather's stuff from point A to point B. As I was stopped at the light in our u-hual truck, I saw a little scooter being ridden by a kid in the next lane and before I knew it, I yelled out to him "Awesome scooter man!!!"
I don't know what possesses me to do these things but sometimes, I just start talking to people. Some say it's cool, some say it's not a good thing - like the time I waved to someone when I was a little kid riding shotgun with my dad driving. My dad freaked and thought I was throwing up gang signs. Hahaha!
So back to my story- I'm talking to this kid and he's telling me it's a Honda scooter and he's driven it 400 something miles and he's only put in 4 gallons of gas.
Whoa.
I couldn't believe it and I laughed in excitement like I had just discovered a second use for my belly button. I'll tell you the first use later. So this little scooter has been in my mind ever since and I think I want one. Actually- I know I want one. But the safety issue is a huge thing. I don't want to crash and end up eating food through a tube for the rest of my life... I'll save that for when I'm 90. Anyway, so yeah, the scooter only goes 37 mph. Yeah, thirty seven miles per hour. That's pretty slow and it makes me worried that everyone else on the roads go at least 45-50mph... or more.
Since I tend to over analyze things, I didn't waste time and I started mapping out my route to work and how I could navigate my way safely at the maximum speed limit of this two wheeled monster. I think I could safely get to work but I think the Arizona drivers would kill me... :(
Oh well - maybe I'll get onen for my mid life crisis or when I don't have to worry about a daily commute.
For those of you who are too lazy to google the image - here's the scooter!

I went to Hot Import Nights show to gauge the interest of the Phoenix in car customization.
Here are some tiny photos of the event.
Quite impressive!

The 10 year reunion post...
This past weekend I had the pleasure of going to my 10 year high school reunion. Amazingly it reminded me of the movie Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion. There were approx 120 people there and at $100 bucks a ticket, it's understandable why attendance wasn't super high. Some people just didn't want to fly in for it, others just didn't see the value in going to see people they didn't bother to keep in touch with over the years.
Here's my take:
The "popular" and "cool" girls in h.s. ended up having rather normal lives. Many did the normal marry someone, have kids, work odd jobs here and there. Perhaps that was their goal? Who knows. I'm sure some of them were hoping to be the CEO or some huge company or something and were *surprised* that it didn't happen.
The not so popular but smarter kids who didn't focus on the social aspect of h.s. as much ended up being outstanding adults! Some went into the military for a while to serve their country and fight for our freedom. Others went law school, med school, the medical field in general or elsewhere. I was hoping to run into Matt Kopala. He's been travelling the world for the past several years!
I came to the realization that the people that I've kept in contact with for the past 10 years are the people that I valued the most. I was able to get in touch with some old friends that I had lost contact with but for the most part, I'm extremely happy with the set of friends I have from my high school days.
